Stress and Insomnia Treatment Programs: A Mini Review

Abstract

Dinno Moren*

The disparity between the outcomes of self-report questionnaires and laboratory polysomnography in traumatised people has been theorised to be due to the perceived safety of the laboratory sleep environment. 18 According to this hypothesis, the study included female sexual assault victims, particularly PTSD patients. The subjective sleep quality of those with PTSD was lower than that of the other groups at home, but this difference between the groups was not observed in the laboratory. Additionally, a study found that women with PTSD who had experienced a variety of traumas slept less soundly and had longer sleep start latency than those without PTSD. This shows that these ladies may experience difficulties falling asleep and staying asleep.
