Evaluation of Economic Efficiency of using Resource Saving Technologies (Conservation Agriculture) in Irrigated Lands

Global climate change, reduction in planting areas, land degradation, limited water resources, and ecologic problems influence food security directly. The role and importance of resource saving technologies (conservation agriculture) is increasing considerably high in intensive development of agriculture of Uzbekistan.
The objective of the research is economic evaluation of wheat production under conservation agriculture practices in irrigated lands. Economic indicators show that winter wheat production under conservation agriculture is more efficient than under conventional agriculture practices.
For the purpose of economic evaluation of conservation and conventional agriculture practices, full costs and profit are taken for winter wheat production.
Under resource saving technologies (conservation agriculture) in 1 ha, fossil fuels are saved by 53%, and economic efficiency is 1141825.8 ($ 456) sums.

Impact Assesment of Nrega Programme: A Comparative Analysis in Two Backward Districts of West Bengal, India

The study focuses on the impact assessment of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act program on various development indicators such as employment generation, livelihood security, and creation of productive community assets to enhance the standard of living. Fixed effect regression model has been carried out to analyze the variation in generation of average employment days by a number of independent variables. A comparative tabular analysis was made with regard to the utilization of fund, average employment days per household, house-holds with 100 days of work, category wise asset creation and perceived standard of living among the surveyed blocks for two selected districts in West Bengal (India). The study found that the number of employment days provided in the scheme is much lower than the guaranteed 100 days. The average number of employment days generated is crucially governed by the extent and smoothness in the conduit of utilization of fund, percentage of labor cost as well as time gap in wage payments.

Migration, Remittances, Trade Openness and Economic Growth in Africa: GMM Technique

This study investigates the impact of outgoing migration, remittances, and trade on economic growth in Africa during the period from 1976 to 2015. The study utilizes annual data obtained from the World Bank and uses GMM econometrics technique. The empirical results reveal that outgoing migration has negative significant impact on economic growth of the region; migrants’ remittances to Africa have positive significant impact on economic growth during period of interest. Also, the results suggest that trade contributes positively and significantly to economic growth in the continent.

Mergers and Acquisitions and Trade Integration: A Spatial and Temporal Study of India

The objective of this study is to analyze the nature and implications of changes in the number of Mergers and Acquisitions bids pertaining to Indo-US and Indo-Europe cross-border deals, on a pre-and post-sub-prime crisis basis. These numbers are correlated with ϒij (gamma-ness of trade). There was a decline in ϒij in 2009, for the said geographies, reflecting the impact of sub-prime crisis. The bids increased in the post-crisis period only for Indo-US Mergers & Acquisitions, where India was the target. The F value is solid when the acquirer is India and the target is either USA or Europe.

Flying Geese of Japan: Asian Electronic Industry

Although Japan is known as the largest electronics goods manufacturer, many Japanese companies are facing high cost production due to limited resources. Some Asian countries have been proven to surpass Japan due to their low cost production and cheaper labour. This study analyse the development of Asian leading electronic industries and validity Japan as the flying geese in Asian electronic industries. The empirical result shows that all Asian countries are divergence except Italy, India, United Kingdom and Indonesia. The study suggest that each of the Asian convergence countries should cooperate, give their obligation and commitment to track in the same direction of economic structure, political will and the income distribution of a country. This action could promote economic integration between Asian countries as a whole.

Healthcare in Uttar Pradesh: Special Reference to Comparative Muslim Majority Districts

This paper seeks to analyse the healthcare climate within Uttar Pradesh, with special emphasis on the top 5 comparative Muslim majority districts (as % of District population) for the same. It does so by comparing the collective performance of the identified States with the state averages for Uttar Pradesh for a limited number of healthcare indices via data available from the Annual Health Survey 2011. The health indices being covered include treatment available for population diagnosed with acute illness, regularity of treatment for diagnosed chronically ill populace, extent of Ante Natal care, parameters of delivery care, facilities in terms of Post Natal care, coverage of relevant female population under JSY - Janani Suraksha Yojana, differentials among birth registration, and finally, mortality rates for infants and children. The primary focus of the paper is the situation of women and children - the sections of population that are often the last to receive healthcare in India’s deeply patriarchal society.
The state of Uttar Pradesh has been chosen for a number of reasons - primary among which are the sizeable population, variation of indices across the State in terms of averages, and the availability of reliable data for a secular analysis.

The Relationship among Export, Import, Capital Formation and Economic Growth in Malaysia

This study examine about the empirical question whether there is dynamic relationship among economic growth, export and import. Meanwhile, the objective of this study is to examine dynamic relationship among export- import and domestic investment. This study used time series data from 1967-2010 and VAR analysis. For the cointegration test we found no long run relationship among the interested variables. For causality analysis, export ratio and economic growth granger cause domestic investment. The impulse response function show that, the economic growth responds both positive and negative way depending on time period, due to the shock of domestic investment, import and export. Meanwhile because Malaysia is an open economy, to ensure effectively utilization of domestic resources, reforms of new policies to ensure that, at least two variables either import, export or domestic investment re enforce each other in promoting economic growth over long run is needed.

Achieving Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria through Financial Inclusion in the Agriculture Sector

A major challenge in the agriculture sector in Nigeria is access to finance. Examining whether, increased access to financial services by farmers can bring about sustainable development in Nigeria merits attention. In response, the study adopted survey research design to obtain and analyse the perception of 105 farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria on the subject. It was observed that financial inclusion in the Nigerian agriculture sector can be used to achieve sustainable development. The study recommends the siting of more financial institutions in rural areas and financial discipline, amongst others, as measures to achieve financial inclusion in the agricultural sector.

Contribution of Agriculture Sector in the GDP Growth Rate of Pakistan

This study is about to be the contribution of agriculture sector in the GDP growth rate of Pakistan. The important variables of this study is major crops, live stocks, other crops which is contribute in the agriculture sector and after that study also provide the results of whole contribution of agriculture sector in the GDP growth rate of Pakistan. Most of this study is based on secondary data and study has taken 25 years past data from economic survey of Pakistan and the period is (1990-2014). For justifying their results researcher fit the regression model for this study. Our results show that there is a strong relationship in our variables agriculture sector and GDP growth rate. Research also provides the significant impact of Major crops and other crops on agriculture sector and contribution towards (GDP) Gross Domestic Product. Live-stock is also major part of agriculture and has significant contribution in agriculture sector.

Environmental Issues Concerning the Economic Development of Tourism in Iraq

Environmental pollution is one of the main factors that stand as an obstacle in the development of the tourism sector. In Iraq, within the last three decades, this issue has had significant impacts on the ecological, economic and social sectors, particularly on the tourism sector. Within the context of a structural adjustment, our first purpose is to look at how the relationship between the economic development, the environmental protection and tourism progresses , while reviewing key elements of the relationship between tourism and the environment, with particular reference to the environmental impacts of tourism in Iraq. Following a general overview of the importance of the environment for tourism, a brief review concerning the difficulties of monitoring environmental changes and managing tourism effects in destination areas is presented. Finally, several key questions and research subjects needing further consideration have been identified.
