The paper describe a method to construct a finite element model of the hip joint of a child based on clinical recorded CT data. A model which can be used for diagnostic aid and pre-operative surgical evaluation. First part of this development is a feasibility study of this method. A scan of the asymptomatic left hip of a 10-year-old girl with a dysplastic right hip was used. Cartilage was not visible why it was modeled as an interaction with constant thickness between two surfaces. For every point on the acetabular and femoral bone surfaces, the shortest distance to the other surface was used to calculate the resulting stress in the normal direction. At a load of 233% BW the model predicted peak pressures in the hip joint of 9.7-13.8 MPa and an area in contact of 351-405 mm2 . Experimental validation using the hip joint of a child was not ethical viable. Instead, our results were compared to previous published experimental studies and computational models investigating the adult hip joint. Good correlation between the current model and previous models were found. The current case specific modeling technique may be a useful complement to the previously developed hip models.

A glucose biosensor based on the immobilization of the enzyme glucose oxidase (GOx) onto an anthracene-based polymer analogue of poly (phenylene sulfide) (PAnS)/Gold electrode was elaborated. The building of the bridge system was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The PAnS semi-conducting polymer exhibits a good film forming, stability and adhesion on gold Electrode. The choice of the immobilization of GOx in thin film polymer is essentially based on the facility of the synthesis of the polymer also on the surface properties. The immobilized GOx was proved by cyclic voltammetry, contact angle and UV-visible spectroscopy. The GOx/PAnS/Au bioelectrode showed a linear response to glucose in the concentration ranging from 10-8 M to 10-3 M with a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and a sensitivity of 2.66 (kΩ M-1cm-2). Indeed, The GOx/PAnS/Au structure could make it a promising bioelectrode for detection of glucose in the biological samples.

In modern world persons addicting to drugs are increasing gradually. Smoking, cocaine, nicotine etc. are harmful to human body. The most commonly affected organs are lung, liver, kidney. But the effect of nicotine is more in lungs which affect blood concentration and heart rate, analyzed using Physiologically Based Toxico-Kinetics and Physiologically Based Toxico-Dynamics modeling. The person affected by heart disease also has chance for lung failure. Best and safe method for avoiding lung failure is lung transplantation and fixing Artificial Lung (AL). In lung transplantation both the donor and recipient requirement should perfectly match, in Artificial Lung method any one of the lung assisting device is fixed instead of original lungs, but it is not analyzed effectively. In order to improve its efficiency the compliance chamber is designed and kept in between heart and lungs. By which the pulmonary artery pressure is maintained in the range between 8 to 25 mm/Hg.
