In the Genomic Period, Statistics: Molecular Biology

Javed Khan

Breakthroughs in technology have considerably improved our capacity to comprehend the complicated realm of molecular biology in recent years. Rapid advances in genomic profiling techniques, like as high-throughput sequencing, have given computational biology and bioinformatics new opportunities and problems. Furthermore, several sophisticated methodologies (e.g., RNA-Seq, Chips-Seq, single-cell assays, and Hi-C) have been created by integrating genomic profiling tools with various experimental techniques in order to better investigate complicated biological systems.

Genes that Predispose People to Cancer

Javed Khan

Cancer is a disease characterised by uncontrolled cell proliferation caused by genetic mutations and misregulation of genetic information expression. Cancer cells proliferate haphazardly and selfishly, ignoring the ordered developmental possibilities for multicellular creatures, causing harm to the host and ultimately to themselves.

Development, Cancer, and Aging: Insulin-Like Growth Factors

Javed Khan

Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) have piqued researcher’s interest in a variety of fields, including endocrinology, paediatrics, growth, metabolism, nutrition, ageing, and cancer, since their discovery in the late 1950s. IGF1, which was first discovered as a modulator of growth hormone activity, is now thought to be involved in a wide range of cellular and organismal activities. Over the last 40 years, the signalling pathways triggered by IGF1 have been thoroughly described in biochemical and molecular terms.

An Overview of Cell Transformation by RNA Viruses

Javed Khan

Oncogenic virus research has made significant advances to cancer molecular biology. The discovery of viral oncogenes and cellular proto-oncogenes, as well as the elucidation of signal transduction pathways and the identification of tumour suppressor genes, are all significant achievements. The discovery of avian sarcoma and acute leukaemia viruses—RNAcontaining retroviruses—began the history of cancer virology approximately exactly one hundred years ago. With the discovery of DNA viruses that could convert cells in culture and the invention of quantitative tests for transformation by DNA and RNA-containing tumour viruses in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the research of animal cancer viruses intensified.
