A Study on the Socio-economic Conditions of the Women Beneficiaries on Micro Credit in Madurai, Tamilnadu

Finance is the lubricant, which oils the wheels of development. All economics rely upon the intermediary function to transfer resources from savers to investors. In market economies, this function is performed by commercial banks, financial institutions and capital markets. The poor would borrow relatively small amounts, and the processing and supervision of lending to them would consume administrative costs disproportionate to the amount of lending. Today, economic independence is considered to be the prime basis for improving the status of women in India. It is generally agreed that availability of credit to women would result in reducing their dependency, enhancing their social and economic activities, as well as empowering them to assert more in the household decisions. In India, women cannot be viewed as a homogeneous group, as the society is stratified on the basis of class, caste and religion. It has been observed that the position of women and their demand for bank credit remain tied to class, caste and religious affiliations. In order to grasp the nature of these casual relationships, it is imperative to understand the socio-economic condition of women beneficiaries in the study area. This work attempts to analyses the major socio-economic variables and family profiles of the women beneficiaries. Micro finance should be used to meet the immediate demand of the poor women for Health, Education or consumption purposes. This will improve the quality of their life and will be ready to take active participation in economic activities.

Green Energy in Turkey

As in the world, Turkey has also improved the renewable energy backed by the government as well as supporting institutions and organizations which build a project and do research on renewable energy. Turkey is a pretty rich country due to both stream wealth and geographical position. Turkey being known countries as hydroelectric energy potential in the world, owing to the streams has an important position in terms of solar, wind and geothermal power, too. This study aims to emphasize the importance of green energy in Turkey and create awareness the impacts of renewable energy on provinces having green energy potential, especially in an economic sense with green energy studies.

Women Entrepreneurship and Poverty Alleviation in Awka Metropolis

Despite the provision of soft loans by the last presidential government in Nigeria through the Central Bank, women entrepreneurs in Awka metropolis still complain of lack of financial assistance from government and poor moral support from members of their families as impediments against their contributions in poverty alleviation. In view of the above, the study examined the relationship between government financial assistance and family moral support on the performance and commitment of women entrepreneurs in Awka metropolis. Research questions and hypotheses were formulated based on the research problems and objectives. Survey design was used to collect the data by the use of a structured questionnaire. The instrument was subjected to validity and reliability tests and found adequate for the study. The data collected were analyzed using frequency distributions and percentages. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation was used to test the hypotheses while Probable Error of Correlation was used to test for the significance of correlation. The result of the significance shows that the results of the Probable Errors in the two hypotheses were both lower than the coefficients of correlations. This made the two null hypotheses to be rejected while the alternatives were accepted. Major finding, conclusion and recommendations are that since the financial support from government and moral support from family members were found to be very significant in the performance and commitment of women entrepreneurs in Awka metropolis for poverty alleviation purposes, they should be highly encouraged.

The Effects of Non-interest Banking on Entrepreneurship in Nigeria

For long, there has been controversy as to the banking system which involves no interest. The non- interest banking system has raised huge controversy and argument as to its relevance to the banking sector. It has also raised argument as to whether this type of banking system is relevant to entrepreneurs. This paper tends to look at the relevance of non-interest banking on entrepreneurs. It would show to the reader that non- interest banking is very relevant to entrepreneurs. It would also show to the reader that non- interest banking helps entrepreneurs in raising capital and funds.
